Who is the best rep for indie movies at the AFM?

I'm willing to help indie filmmakers with feature films at the AFM this year. The deadline to let me know is June 1st. Please email me if interested: vic@felliniesque.com

The movies may be shot in digital or film. It makes little difference for the foreign market. If you email me, I'll give you the full details.

I appreciate any and all information on the subject of distribution and producer preferences. I believe the best rep for indie filmmakers is one of their own, an indie filmmaker like myself. I don't treat the movies like I'd produced or like I own them. You own your movie, but I would only represent you as an agent at a seven percent commission. I don't package all the movies together and sell them at one price. That's unfair to the filmmakers. Each film is handled separately and the accounting and paperwork are kept separate. You will get copies of all contracts.

Here is a video clip from Cannes 2004. I'm planning to take my films to the American Film Market this year. If you have feature films (even if they're digital it's ok), I'm going to consider taking them as a rep. Let me know by June of this year -- that's the deadline. Check out this video on CANNES :-)

The three biggest international markets for indie movies are Cannes, AFM and now Berlinale (emerging market).

Thanks for the comment. LOL I finally found someone who took the bait.

Ok, so here's the hard sell. I can take your movie to the foreign market and sell it for you. I have been going to the international film markets since 1985 and I have made some inroads.

I will deduct 7% for myself and charge you $1,000 the first time you send your film with me. I will make sales and show you all the contracts, so it's going to be 100% transparency. If you want to take over the sale of your movie, you can do so after one year. This way I get to deliver the movie to the people I sold it to and made the deal with them, so that I will have fulfilled the terms of the agreements with them. After that you're in charge of your movie and we don't have any further relationship.

This deal might be of help for indie filmmakers who don't want to take a chance on getting picked up by the established studios and distributors.

Oh! I always cut all my trailers and clips down. I say to myself, Nate is going to say they're too long. LOL Perhaps, I could make it longer.... What type of thing would you want to see?

For something like this, EVERYTHING! I've never been to one of these before and I love seeing the footage. Sundance airs their festivals (too much sometimes) and IFC will show some stuff sometimes. Cannes looks like fun. I want to hit the markets and festivals one day but until then I'll be happy to see some good footage. Bet others would like to see it too.

Film markets are great because you really find out what the buyers will pay for and what they think is a viable movie -- completely different from what you hear Stateside :-)
