Ok,---no more questions now.
Because they've all been asked.
So we just do searches.
Fact is everything has been asked at least once in this community.
Here's a question.
What makes a forum work?
Interaction,---sharing of information,---encouragement
Don't get me wrong,---searches are fine.
But sometimes it's kind of like walking into a library with the books all over the floor.
That's how you learn things,---by asking questions.
Don't be intimidated.

Don't do weddings,---but seems to me an MD in the groom's pocket hooked to a lav would work. Sync in post. Also a wireless hooked to the rabbi, priest, guru, minister, pastor, JP.
Stick lav in book spine, Koran, Torah, Bible, Tibetan book-of-the-dead, Sun Yung Moon's musings,----
How about have the b and g read vows after wedding and dub them in?
Hey,---done in Hollywood all the time. You'll get super clean audio and total control.
And none of that damn snivelling!

Before you ask people to answer the same BASIC question every three days, a search is totally appropriate. THEN, if something is confusing or not really covered, you say "Here is what I learned, but how about...". I do it all the time, and don't feel like I am wasting the forum. Forums are not about asking letting people be too lazy to do anything on their own, but about expanding the community knowledge. Its not like having the books on the floor, it's like having the all the books in a database where you can get right to what you want in just a couple of minutes of reading. Not every question has been asked even in the last year. But the basic questions have been dealt with ad nauseum. I would rather spend 5 minutes and do a search and get 50 opinions and all the OTHER questions that I didn't think to even ask on a subject, instead of asking the question again and getting maybe 2 answers which might not even be correct.

I really try hard to help and not give bogus or brush-off responses. However, the original poster needs to have a better foundation in sound (i.e. - educate themself) before they can be helped. It's generally a good idea to have some knowledge on the subject before asking questions. Sound recording for any event is never as simple as what mic should I use.

Peabody offers a relevant suggestion of using a lav mic wired into a MD recorder. But, here's where a little self study would help: How do you get the sound from the minidisc in your computer? What levels should you use? How do you sync the audio to the video? Is there any drift involved, or how long will it stay in sync? Do I need to re-adjust the sync every 1/5/10 minutes so the words are in sync with their mouths? What about music? Will the lav mic record music okay?

See, there are alot of questions involved in taping weddings or any type of show. Not to discredit this forum, but the original poster will not be any better off with a microphone suggestion -- because the story does not end there.

If this thread encourages the original poster to learn more about sound, then great. I hope that's what they decide to do. Or, otherwise, hire a freelance sound mixer. More than likely, without a lot of time/effort/money you will not have professional sound at weddings. The MD solution is what most folks do, though.

I think a better analogy would be a student showing up to class without having read the textbook, then raising his hand to ask questions that are already answered in the book (the search function being the "textbook").

Everyone who contributes here is extremely helpful and friendly but to see the same questions asked over and over again gets a little frustrating. We want to help but if the poster doesn't have the time to do a little investigation of his own, it feels a little insulting to our time.

Asking them to spend 5 minutes with the search function is not outrageous.

Simply putting in AG-MC100G in the search gets you these threads...

Last one is also a wedding videographer looking for advice on this mic.

Putting in some other parameters... like wedding, audio, cheap, etc. will get you even more good advice.

After all that if someone has more specific questions, people in here are more then willing to help out.
