Who is getting an Xbox 360 today?

really, xbox 360 was a sellout? I thought all that short supply talk was the marketing design of their PR firm. I mean who wants something if it's easy to get?

as for gaming, I go through phases. I can go 8 months without picking up a game. But if I really need to go into a deep escape from the world, one that a two hour movie can't give me, I'll research all the best games out there and buy the one I think I'll like the best and not come out of my apartment until I win it.

I agree that video games have lost some of their luster. But they make games for everyone these days. If you look hard enough, you will find something you like. I guarantee it!

I waited up all night starting at 1:00 at Target. My friend was there and i was just there to film it all and make fun of him with a mock documentary. Anyway...this guy gave me 400 dollars to get him a 300 dollar system and let me keep the change....so i ended up $100 dollars richer out of it.

You can shoot a film on your DVX, edit on your PC, post online...and then people everywhere can download and stream it to their TVs via Xbox. Or watch it on their iPods. Or maybe their cellphones. Pretty cool. .
Absolutely. It's a good idea to be in touch with this stuff if you are serious about creating certain types of media content.

Also, video games are now like comic books in terms of cultural storytelling. Nothing wrong with being in tune with that either.

mmm- kick ass way to look at it.

I remember saying that to my chemistry teacher when I was at school because she accussed me of wasting my time. She didn't know what to say and I avoided a bollacking...lol:beer:

X box 360? noway man, I'm still waiting for the PS3 (without starting a PS3 v xbox360 war) I think PS3 will have an edge *because* now that the xbox360 is out Sony will have ample time to guage its rival and adjust to make it better.

Some may argue that by bringing out the Xbox360 out earlier means you can build a bigger base over a time period , while true, this does not include an alreay existing PS fan base that already has the PS2 (maybe even PS1) and by making it backward compatibile its just like a HVX200 upgrade *i.e*

"the best just got better "

Man I should be in advertsing :)

sooo, basically dont get the dreamcast (I made that big mistake, now its a paperweight)

On a slight OT, the PS3's cell technology will be used to make workstations (Sony offical statement). And allegedly it will be like a mini supercomputer on your desktop, Imagine working with multiple HD streams in faster than realtime editing and rendering. Also for you 3d animators it would be like having a SGI onyx beast on your desktop.

I was number 35 out of 60 that came in at a local gaming store. But there were 300 reservations for that location alone and the sales staff had to call and apologize to the rest. I purchased mine for the occasional gaming session and was hoping to use the Xbox 360 as a DVD player capable of outputting 720P and 1080i since a similar stand-alone DVD player would cost me $200 or so if not mistaken.

Yes - but is it worth waiting in line? About the only legitimate reason would be - MAKING MONEY while doing it:

With the risk of sounding like 'in my days, I had to walk to school at five in the morning, in two feet of snow, uphill both ways':

Where I come from, we had to stand in line to get frigging toilet paper! People would stand in line for bananas, beef was only on Thursdays, and when the stores in Prague ran out of bottled water (about 29 days in a month), I'd hop on a train, ride three hours to the highlands to get some water in a canister, then rode back. Why? Because my wife got an infection at that ****ing commie hospital and couldn't breast feed my son. Baby formula with bottled (or clean mountain spring) water was the only way to feed the baby.

So - those of you who are willing to stand in line for a little evil box that wastes your life, while there, think why you are doing it to yourself.

Happy Thanksgiving.

No, I personally wouldn't wait in line. But there won't be any lines by this time next year.

XCheck, from 1992-93 I taught English at a zakladna skola in Bratislava. Although things were better, we still had to wait in a few lines. Thankfully, no problems finding toilet paper or water (dobra voda!).

With regard to Xbox . . . Back in 1977, I waited in a lengthy line to see Star Wars. Once inside the theater, I "wasted" two hours of my life watching that movie.

Was it worth it? Are you kidding me??!! :cheesy:

You just thought of that joke and had to ressurect the thread.

That's the whole point. Not that I have anything against gaming or certain type of movies. But there is practically nothing in the western hemisphere that couldn't be had WITHOUT standing in line (well - as far as material goods are concerned). All you need is a little patience - but, as Jarred could say, that is a rare commodity.

Why not read a book, or do something nice for your significant other? In two months, you'll have shelves full of XBoxes collecting dust.

I'll be waiting for the PS3 and I will be waiting in line for it. One for me and one for a lil ebay profit. muahh
