Who do you get to read your script?

Not like a producer or anything, I just need someone to tell me if my ideas are any good or if I should stop wasting my time on them and move on. So is there anyone out there who fancies a bit of light (or not so light!) reading for a weekend? Or knows of anyone who does, (cheaply!).

Thanks!

The best way to get honest feedback from anyone is to NOT TELL THEM that it's YOURS. Instead, try something like "hey, I'm thinking of buying this screenplay, would you read it and tell me what you think?" That way the feedback will be direct and honest with no attempt to protect your feelings.

So true, the best way is to join a writing critique group, one where you can post your work under a online user name and get great feedback. You could try Absolute Write forums and DON'T post your work there for everyone to see, but do go into the section of the forum - I believe it is "basic writing questions" and explain to them, how you have these ideas for stories and you want to get advice on whether they're good or not and usually, they're really great about giving people advice on story ideas and the like....

What kidfilm said: since we are all online, why not use that to swap scripts with others and get some basic feedback that way?
