Who designs DVD covers??

Nice car, Larry! Definitely the ultimate for DVX/HVX users!

Yep! I was amazed at how much stuff (equipment/props/crew/cast) I was able to cram into it for my last shoot. The illustrious Barry Green has the same vehicle and equally high praise for its production value.

Larry...I remember talking to you about this car. You and Barry both. I test drove one and really dug it. My girlfriend absolutely fell in love with it. In fact, we both work from home and a guy parks his down below our window every day and she was wishing I got one. However, I fell in love with the 2005 CR-V. It seems to fit my needs, can carry a good amount of stuff, and is just plain perfect for me.

But, it was your high praises, and Barry's high praise that got me looking in the Element and CR-V direction in the first place. I was close. Almost pulled the trigger. But this CR-V caught my eye.

The Element and CR-V use the same chassis and engine. They basically took the CR-V and put the element body on it. Other than seeing them on the road, I've never really looked at the CR-V, how do they compare in terms of room?

One of the things I like about the Element is how the back seats fold up out of the way and, if necessary, can be totally removed. I also like the "theatre seating" of the back seats, where they sit higher than the front seats and you can see out the front window instead of staring at the back of the front seats. Those are just a couple of the many, many things I like about it.

So, did you buy the CR-V? Or still looking?

I actually went ahead and bought the CR-V. At first glance, its a plain jane. But, I'm okay with that. I got a white one, tinted windows, throw on a rack and she looks great!

As for the space, its excellent for being a smaller SUV. The seats fold all the way down, then if you need more space, there is latch so they fold upwards against the drivers side and passenger seats for extra room. The spare tire is on the outside so underneath the back floor mat there is even a nice large compartment for more space. And, I love the table that they put in there. It seems like a frivolous perk, but my gf and I frequent the Drive-in several times a summer and this will come in handy for our chinese food, or whatever.

The back hatch, opens from left to right, instead of up like a garage door. So that makes getting taller stuff in, a breeze.

I am sure she is not as spacious as the ELEMENT. I really loved how the ELEMENT'S seats folded so outta the way. But, their comparisons were so close that I couldn't justify the back seat feature selling me entirely. I'll almost never need MORE space than what I'm gonna get from the CR-V.

I did like the theater seating as well. However, I figured that looking at the back of my head is not MY problem. HA! Besides, I won't be having back seat passengers often enough to justify it. The seats are very plush and comfortable and their is a lot of leg room. Again, not as much as the ELEMENT, but I'm cool with it.

One point that I couldn't get past was the SUICIDE doors on the ELEMENT. Which is why, I've discovered, you should always test drive a car with at least 3 people. That way, you get the insights of the people riding in the back. My girlfriend's mother came with us and it wasn't until we realized that she couldn't get out of the back seat until her door was opened for her, did we realize this design oversight. I'd hate to be in some sort of fender bender when getting out of the vehicle is a must. That poor person would be stuck back there.

I test drove a Santa Fe as well. I had a hard time facing the fact that I was so attracted to a Hyundai, but they're very popular, so I gave it a go. Again, I'm glad my girlfriend and her mother went with me. They were only 2 people, but they were VERY scrunched in the back seat. What a difference a few inches here and there make.

So, thats my take and brief review. It's a great car. So is the ELEMENT though, So, we should both be very happy!

Rick
PS I wish I could afford the FJ Cruiser that TOYOTA is coming out with. Now THAT is a sweet looking vehicle! I am just assuming that it is outta my price range for now.
PPS Sorry the_Andyape for hijacking your thread.

I guess we all have one. Yeah, it's also fun when a rear passenger strangles you by opening their suicide door while you're still buckled in... but my seats spend most of the time folded up against the walls so I can just roll my huge equipment cart in and out...
