I don't think there's anything wrong with a little political discussion...even on a web site named after a camera!!!
It's good to kind of get away sometimes from discussions about the clunky DVX100 camera sound, white balances and DV compression.
Let's not only be camera nerds but also political nerds!
(and by the way, on the concern about personal insults starting due to political discussion: Whats to stop the insults from flying on the topics of camera preferences? We will surely see party lines being drawn between XL2 and DVX users, and probably Sony users as well. We are on the eve of war!!! You know, I changed my mind, who needs political discussions, lets just be camera nerds and duel it out!)
