White Balance Quesetion

In our after plenty of reading one question that really sticks out to me is whether or not the color of the lighting used matters for a manual white balancing camera. I was reading a lighting guide, but for still photography (the one in the newbie guide to lighting post), and a special white bulb replaced the regular tungsten bulb in a construction lamp. If the camera can white balance to compensate for the coloring does it matter what type of light is used?

It will depend largly on what light you are introducing to the "scene", and what other lighting that light is competing with.
If it's competing with daylight (sun), you would want to have a light source close to it; alternatively, if you are indoors with lots of incandescent lights, you are probably best with an introduced light that matches incandescent.

If your light is the ONLY light it matters not what color temp it is, however.
