Sounds like someone hasn't gotten WB 101?
Anyway... Can't you dial the WB by number? I'd either use presets or dial them in a per shot basis.
Perhaps 4800~5000K should work fine for Sunset. Perhaps more? I don't know.
I usually shoot sunsets in the Daylight preset of my little inocent FX7. If it's too much, it's correctable in post.
