Whips: IndiFocus vs. RedRock

Hi Everyone,
So now IndiFocus whips are the standard attachment, and way cheaper than other brands like RedRock. So, my question is if they are as good.
http://www.freshdv.com/2007/10/freshdv-reviews-five-follow-focus-systems.html

In this awesome review they compare the FF units and there were significant complaints on the IndiFocus, mainly the flex/backlash issue and the flex on the whip. So IndiFocus has apparently solved the backlash issue and people seem happy with it, but are the whips still doing what they were doing in this review?

I think my FF plan after a ton of research is gonna be IndiFocus Pro with the .8 pitch driver (not ordering the package with gears) and get RedRock gears (i like the style and safety on lenses more). But I'm still deciding on whips.

Thanks for the help!

Have you given a thought about getting a whip that you can add a speed crank on it? I only know that Arri has them. I currently have a redrock whip, it is good. But I'm thinking of getting a speed crank , and the redrock whip won't be able to add the speed crank on to it.

I'm not 100% but I do not believe the Indifocus FF is a industry standard whip / speed crank port, hence you may be stuck using their own stuff.

Redrock is Arri standard, meaning you've got other whip / crank options besides what Redrock offiers.

The new indie FF is upgraded with the standard port, but the whip does not allow a speed crank to the end too. Someone showed a speed crank from indie and it is not square but hex shaped. So the indie speed crank won't work with the standard port too.

There's a new whip that is supposed to address the issues of the old. The new indiFOCUSpro handle is the industry standard square port as DavidChia states.

I'd drop Tim at indiSYSTEMS a quick email to ask about the speed crank. I'm sure he said it would also be available in square and indiFOCUS classic mounts.

Enjoy!

That's nice to hear because I plan to buy IndiFocusSPro and their IndiRailSPro system. I suppose I can go with a brand name but I don't have the money at the moment. Thanks for comparing this two products.
