I just purchased the MKH 416 Sennheiser short shotgun mic and I want a good xlr cable. I figured teh Audio Technica ones are standard on the shoots I've been working with (a 25' 3 pin balanced male to female xlr) at 19.99.
However, I was told to get the Mogami- Cable Studio XLR/mm to XLR/f 25'. This costs 49.95 before tax. I know it has the gold pin wiring inside and all but I'mm thinking that it would matter more indoors recording singing or instruments, interviews, that sort of thing.
But on the other hand I do not want sound to suffer at all on my production but is there really a difference?
