Which used tripod heads are worth while?

I'm wondering if there are any tripod heads out there that are discontinued, or no longer the "hot buy" but are still usefull, and now more affoardable?. I'm thinking something with a 75 or 100mm ball on the bottom, fluid drag, and hopefully a bubble level built in.

1) Are discontinued models a bad idea because you can't get parts for them?

2) Anyone have any suggested brands/models that would work well w/ a hvx and some accessories?

3) For example- a Bogen/Manfrotto 3066? or 510? or 505?
I know those are discontinued, but are they still good?

Hi:

Bogens (Manfrotto) are bogus. We own half dozen different Bogen heads and none are very impressive. Spend your money on something quality like a Sachtler, Cartoni Focus or Vinten. 100mm is more desirable than 75mm because 100mm interfaces with high hats, jibs, etc. more easily. 100mm is the "pro standard" size for video cameras.

Jarred and Barry both bought the Cartoni Focus, what does that tell you?

I was hot for the Sachtler DV-6 but I am beginning to think that the Cartoni is a better value. The Sachtler is better but probably not worth almost double the money.

Best,

Dan
