I have my camera setup that I can configure between 3.5kgs to 7.3kgs and I am looking for a head that can cover those options so that I am not limited with my configuration of my gear. At 3.5kgs would be the camera, battery grip, C-cage and some accessories and at 7.3kgs would be additional portable recorder, battery packs, monitors, mic, shoulder mounts and handles etc, for a shoulder rig setup without counterweight. I am not sure how much effect the COG would be at 34cms tall to the top handle but about 7cms is just the top handle space regarding the total height.
I am considering the Libec HR35R fluid head which has a counter balance range from 3-7.5 kgs but I read the specs and it says at full counterbalance, the tilt is limited to only 40 degrees which to me makes the counterbalance useless when set to max.
My camera gear with cage has a height of about 34cms so the COG would make the weight I have quoted inaccurate?
I was also considering the RH45R but the counter balance range is from 4.5-10.5kgs which would mean I would not be able to use my camera gear at its basics of 5DIII, battery grip and cage and some other accessories because the weight is too light!
Other options were:
- Manfrotto 509
- Benro H8, S8, H10
I would definitely require adjustments for counterbalance, tilt and pan drag when choosing the fluid head.
