Which thunderbolt drive enclosure: HighPoint or StarTech?

I want to get a thunderbolt hard drive enclosure. I'm trying to choose between two products:

The HighPoint is cheaper.....but the StarTech has a fan and a metal enclosure. The HighPoint one seems like a bit of flimsy plastic. I can't decide. Any thoughts?

Two different devices.

The first is a dock for 2.5" and 3.5" drives and only has a single TB port.

The second is an enclosure for 2.5" drives and has TB loop through.

is there a practical difference between 2.5" drives and 3.5" drives?

I think the 3.5 might be cheaper than 2.5 drives and also more reliable but could be wrong

An editor I work with has the HighPoint dock and he loves it. It's not a RAID so you aren't going to get speeds faster than the drives you plug into it, but it's easy to treat bare drives as individual storage units.

He also has the OWC Elite Pro Dual drive box and has had some trouble using 6TB WD RED drives with it, but the box was bought before 6TB drives were on the market so I'm wondering if there is a compatibility issue because the drives are newer than the enclosure.
