Which of these is better, now im no professional, but im looking foward to buying a 35mm adapter. I dont know which to get, the letus 35 or m2. Can someone please help and tell me which is better, flexible and recommened?? Also which will make my footage look better :) lol. thanks bunch!

In a nutshell...

The M2 has a more solid build. But it takes far longer to set up either need a magnet to flip the lcd or use an external monitor that flips.

The Letus does flip the images but you will need pro rails and a cavision (or something like it) lens support system. With that the $$$ are about even.

Also harder to clean because it's a solid system rather than the "parts" of an M2

I own a letus and sometimes rent an M2... I like them both.

Here's how I'd break it down....

Letus 35 Flip - Great for run and gun/documentary shooting... easy one man operating if you're on a 300mm or a longer lens.

M2 - Studio work where setup time is not an issue. Also with the M2 rails it can be a bit heavy. I know guys that buy lighter rails and that seems to help out if you're going hand held.

As for image quality... that depends on setup/lens and camera settings. They are about even all things concidered.

what do you mean about flipping the lcd and magnets, i dont understand that concept, may you elaborate?
35mm adapter cause your camera to record the image upside down 180 degree, meaning that the LCD will also show an upside down image that makes it difficult to monitor. With the DVX (original and A version only) this issue is solved by putting a magnet next to the LCD, which cause the LCD to reverse itself (but the recorded footage is still upside down). There are also external LCD monitors that offer a flip function.

The Letus Flip Enhanced is currently the only the adapter that reverses the image in-camera at the cost of some light loss.

but remember when you use the letus flip you are going to lose about 1 or 2 fstops of light which will make things a little harder if you dont have much lighting. i figured out a way to flip the image on my dvx100b, do a search of my name and youll see it

Just FYI, Redrock (maker of the M2) will be coming out with an image flipping attachment that goes between the M2 and the camera, which will likely also include a built-in close-up achromat lens.

I'm still trying to decide between the big three myself.

I was leaning towards and M2 kit with the rails and follow focus, but people say it's a pain in the ars* to set up. Is it really that bad? And the battery situation looks like another pain.

Now I'm thinking about the SG Pro.

Gah.

Yes, the one i tried has the battery located in a such place that i suppose you have to disassemble the setup totally in order to change them.
But my choice was based mostly on image sharpness and quality, and i choosed the Letus35FE for this reason.
You can see here and here (the same without letterbox) the very first shots, done out of the box without care. They look terrific even if i didn't care about light and subjects.

I have used (owned) the letus and the m2. Heres my POV on both.

First up Letus.

Easy to set up and use, image is flipped so no mounting things upside down and flipping images in post. Pretty easy overall to get a good quality image.

My Letus had dust inside on shipping (reported by many other users). Because of the design, its impossible to remove it all. Once you do remove the achromat - not via screws etc you actually have to cut it out of the glue - only part of it is accessible. I spent a lot of time cleaning my letus, only to have the dust inside return (and in the middle of a shoot day you cant just stop everything for three hours to clean it out) - dust showing up in shot is unacceptable to me - unit sold.

M2

Not easy to set up first time. After first time its easy. There are a couple of small quirks I had with my unit.

The gg in my unit wobbled - not much - but enough to cause uneven focus and some areas falling in and out of perfect focus. I took the unit apart and followed another users instructions to get it right - this took me 3 hours in total. But once done you shouldnt have to repeat.

The M2 unit looks like a pro unit. Very important for me as clients often look at what I am shooting with - Not that many know a great deal about x, y or z. But, they DO make impressions about the look of the equipment. (Conversely, while the letus doesnt look bad, it does look a little DIY).

Im not sure what the numbers would say, but I think the image quality on both units is pretty good.
