All cheap mic stands suck. Make sure you get a sandbag or two as well to keep it from tipping over. As far as cheap mic stands go, though, I like the Hosa ones.

What is "cheap" in regards to mic stands? What are good stands to get? I only listed the ones I saw on B&H. Am I better off going to Guitar Center?

guitar center has great deals on NEW and USED stands...i got a new boom stand for 30 bucks on sale marked down from 120$

id go there and see what they have...they are really good about giving discounts on everything if you talk to them for a bit...

they work on commission so they bargen for a sale...

the one i got fits perfectly in my tripod case for travel....

I define cheap mic stands as anything below $50.

Beyer has a killer mic stand with a boom, but it's over $100.

I'm ok with spending over $100 for a good stand. I just got back from Guitar Center. They had two models of one brand and they both sucked. Too klunky. I'd much rather spend $50 more and get something good that won't break too easily and that doesn't weigh a ton.
