which mic

I am helping a friend do a training video for his company. They love the video clips i have done for them so far but i dont consider myself a sound person. Is there a mic that goes well with the sd722? I have access to a 722 but they dont have any mics at all or no other sound equipment for that matter.

The shots will be both in a room with lots of dialogue and also outside.

I dont want to hold the 722's potential back by having a bad mic. I could probably spend 1500 at the most.

If literally all you have is the 722, you need more than just a mic. You're going to need cables, headphones, a boom, suspension, and wind protection just for a very basic kit.

Check out the stickies if you haven't already.

I'd look at one of the NTG-3 kits from the DVeStore, Personally, I'd go with kit #4 with the longest boom, I think that's just a 9', but it'll get you started with boom, cables, mount/wind protection. You'll need to add good phones ($100 for MDR-7506). Then you're going to need to add a decent hyper for interrior use. There are tons of threads on hypercardioids here, a search should pull up a ton of info.

^ +1 for what Canada said. I just picked up the NTG-3 and absolutely love it, especially paired with the SD302 mixer.
