Which Mac to get for video editing?

So my PC is barely working now and I've decided to get a Mac for video editing. I currently use Adobe Premiere and After Effects and also own a copy of AVID I never got to work on my PC.

Would a Mac mini be sufficient for video editing? Will the software I bought for PC work on the Mac?

Any recommendations for a good, affordable Mac product to use? Used or new?

Thanks!

Why are you looking to get a Mac? In your situation, I see no reason to do so.

1. None of the software you're using is Mac-only. You have the PC versions of Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere and After Effects. You could possibly exchange it if you can prove that it's not installed anywhere, but I've never tried.

2. A Mac Mini might work, but you have to get an external hard drive. You shouldn't have your media on your boot drive.

3. The Mac Mini doesn't have a DVD drive, so you'll need an external one to burn disks.

You can get a way better value out of a PC, especially if you build it yourself (or even have a company build it for you, like Cyber Power here in CA.)
