Re: Which is the Best Jib Crane Out There?
I've owned a Camcrane 200 for about a year. Personally the Camcrane 100 was a better design. I prefer the square tubing of the original to the round tubing of the new design. I bought this jib because I like to have control of the camera at the head level. I was able to mount a manfrotto head and control the camera that way. All depends on what your needs are.
I'm selling the jib and looking for something a bit more robust. The Camcrane tends to sway too much when fully loaded. The bearing system that attaches to the tripod is so fluid there is no drag, meaning I could take the thing and spin it around.. this tends to suck when you're working from ground level up and can't keep the jib in the same place on an x-axis.
bolts they sent to put the thing together were almost an inch too long....
as for a great competitor to the Camcrane and an all around mega-stable jib, try www.cambo.com and e-mail Henk Brands. They're in the Netherlands and I don't believe they have distribution here yet but they have the Artes Video Boom system. Saw it at NAB.. really rugged, well built and aroung $800 including shipping overseas.
