Hi,
I am about to shoot a Travel Video, but with only one CAmera , either NTSC or PAL. I need to broadcast this on both NTSC format as well as PAL format?

Which format should I choose to shoot in the first place?( and why)

Also should I shoot in HDV for higher resolution?

Thanks for your suggestions and input

I would shoot Pal 25P if you can.

For pal, it will look sharp and if your camera can shoot progressive without quality loss go that route.

Then when you need to deliver to NTSC clients, you can take the entire project, interperate as 23.976 and with a 2:3 pulldown your cadence will be correct.

However keep in mind this will add about 1 second to each minute of footage you shoot. So if you are delivering to a time sensitive medium, than you'll just have to do a blurry conversion (to save those precious seconds for advertisers!)

NTSC ->Pal doesn't work well unless you have a camera that is 24P capeable, and then you shoot 23.976, and speed up to 25. However some of the motion might look unnatural.

You can see a Pal 25P video I shot then converted it to 23.976 on a Sony HDR-FX1 at this site: http://alex.nigma.info/2006/your-life-x2/
