Is there a difference in quality if I take a quicktime movie into toast to make a dvd or if I take a quicktime movie into compressor2 then dvdpro?

Yes. At least, there was a coupel years back when I did a couple test burns to find out exactly what you asked. Toast is fine for a quickie rough, but if it's anything important I'd suggest you use Compressor. And if you are really picky, use Sorenson Squeeze.
