Which iris to adjust with 35 adapter?

I'm using the M2 (awesome) with our A1, and I'm curious as to whether I should be changing the aperture on the lens, the A1, or both to achieve the proper balance of lighting I'm looking for. Any thoughts?

use the adapter lens

I heard to use both lenses to get the best results. Too much light loss though.

I use a mixture of ND filters, In camera ND's, 35mm lens and camera aperture to control the amount of light. I think that it's great that if I want to leave the aperture wide open I can control the amount of light using the camera itself, it's just one more way to control light, although there are slightly different results using each method mentioned above, you just have to find the right combination that works for the subject you are shooting.
