hi folks,

i'm on a powerbook G4/1ghz/OS 10.3.5/superdrive

i have found that i can only burn APPLE dvds....anyone else had this problem?

now...i've only tried apples and fujifilm 4.7gig/120mins "up to 4x"

i think the apple ones are 2x only...could this be my problem?

the apple brand work great, but its a pain to run to the mac store every time i need dvds....what else works? i'd like to buy in bulk - well - 50 or so....

thanks!

I like using the FujiFilm DVD-R...don't know why... I've had problems with Memorex and Maxell. CompUSA are ones I use for home use. They are ok too.

DON'T get +Rs though. Your superdrive won't write them.

Good luck,

I use the CompUSA ones and have been happy with them. When they have sales you can get them for pretty cheap. I bought a spindle of 50 for $20, which was a pretty good deal to me.

thanks folks. picked up some fuji DVD-R today and have had no problems. i'm not sure why i didn't know the difference between the + and the - versions, but i do now!

Re: which DVD+R's do you use?

i've burned over 100 ritek g04 inkjet printable dvd-r's and printed on an epson r300...never got one returned...i use them because of the recommendation of ralph labarge, dv guru at dv.com who tested them w/ over 90% compatibility. at $50 for a spindle of 100, you just can't beat that for reliable dvd-r's...

Re: which DVD+R's do you use?

DVDs are DVDs. Doesn't matter about the brand. Look around for good deals at Costco and Office Depot etc. You should never pay more then a dollar a disk. I got two 50 DVD spindles for 50 bucks. (Bye one get one free) That's 50 cents a disk for those still counting fingers! ;) On the topic of DVD-R and DVD+R, -R's are for Mac and +R's are for PC. If you are using FCP (and I assume so since this is a FCP thread) you need to use -R's. And don't spend more then a buck a disk. Peace.

Re: which DVD+R's do you use?

Unfortunately lifetime of the disk and quality control does vary a lot for different brands. As in most things you'll probably get what you pay for.

Re: which DVD+R's do you use?

How common is it for consumer DVD players to have a problem with DVD-Rs burned on a Mac?

Re: which DVD+R's do you use?

None. I've had MORE problems with +Rs. I've got an old dvd player, a NEW sony system an OLD PC dvd drive and a Great MAC. A dvd+r I got from my sister won't work on ANYTHING!

She's only had one problem with a -r from me. Re burned and no problems.

THAT said, I'm looking for a comparison chart that says +R and -R are exactly the same with all machines once they are burnt... though I cannot find it now.
