Which DVD Recorder do you use?

I know a lot of you out there are using a DVD recorder to transfer down your dailies or whatever, real-time to a DVD to give to your client or producer for viewing. I am in the same process right now. I am looking for one that has component in, but there are not that many out there right now. So I guess I will have to BNC to S-video.

What deck do you use, and do you like your set-up?

I have an inexpensive Toshiba with firewire, s-video, composite in. BUT, if you go with one that has firewire in you need to determine if it will record in that mode straight from your NLE (ie: straight from firewire out to firewire in). Many don't for some reason. Mine doesn't. It will accept a firewire feed just fine though from a camcorder or deck playing back a tape.

I have experience with several consumer grade standalone DVDR decks from Philips, Panasonic and Sony.

Each has things to recommend them in terms of software interface and FW input, but in my experience the Philips machines are quite prone to break down and the Sonys can go for days on end with nary a hiccup. Panasonics have also been quite relaible.

I have had no problems with the Panasonic ES10 version at my house. Just wish they had component inputs.
