Which do you prefer?

... and why?

Working on a new company logo, and here's the start. Once I decide on which one, I'll take it from there. This is just the beginning...

p.s. Company name is "4am Productions"

Thanks boys and girls.

The second one is best. The first one looks like you'll tell me the news after the logo.

I prefer the first one, but not by a large margin. With the round nature of the logo, I would try and play with something that reads a bit more like the face of an analog clock. Perhaps make the number 4 become part of the hands of the clock.

I thought about that. Really. I think I'm headed in another direction, though. The "round" will eventually represent the moon, instead of a clock.

Still up in the air, though.

I prefer the second one... it's more stylized, more personal. I think it could probably have a little more flair...(Yes I realize I sound like that guy from 'Office Space'...) I dunno, maybe add some color to either the "4" or the "AM", just an idea :)

Roughly what I think it could be. Sorry for messing with your logo if you didn't want me to cut it up like that. Peace.

Shouldn't the logo be rotated a bit so the horizontal line on the "4" is pointing at 4:00? Or am I just plainly demonstrating why I am *not* a graphics artist? :)

Hmmm... I definitely see the "ham" thing, and not liking it. Now that you pointed it out, that's all I see. I'm sure I could manipulate a bit to rid it...

Zach, thanks for the idea, and by all means, rip it apart for me if anyone has better idea's. I'm not stuck on anything... I threw those together in under an hour, along with 7 others. I like your idea, but it reminds of a bit of a symbol on a countries flag.

Barry, yeah, I'm still a little up in the air on the "clock" idea. I like it, but it doesn't seem to fit the "mood" I'm after. I'm into minimalist art, arthouse films, foreign films, etc., and I somehow want to portray that in my animated logo. Well, I want my still logo to be similar to the animated one, so here's where I stand.

I was planning on the circle representing the moon rather than a clock, but we'll see what happens.

Let me ask this, then: are we liking the basic design at all, or should I start from scratch and toss out what I've got??

Be brutally honest, I can take it.

A round circle with numbers on it that spell out a time? That says "clock", not "moon." If you want to portray the moon, make it look like a moon and not a clock face? Even a partial moon instead of a full moon?

I got nothin'.

Yeah... I see your point. Thing is, is I was thinking of putting an outer Halo to it, and and inner "glow" so it'd look more "moonish" (moonish?, eh, it's late. I can use that word.)

Either way, I'll throw together a "clock" version too. Other's have mentioned it, so I may as well use it as an option.

Thanks for the tips so far, guys.

Untill tomorrow...
