Films I listed are all favorites of mine by Herzog and just realized they all star Klaus Kinski. ...
...
Incidentally; who was the best Batman?
1) Adam West (campy and funny)
2) Michael Keaton (dark but funny - at the time he was cast everyone thought Burton was mad, but it was an inspired choice)
3) Val Kilmer (just plain weird and fluroescent)
4) George Clooney (what!? are those your nipples sir?)
5) Christian Bale (dark and not funny)
Werner Herzog.
I certainly felt for this penguin in short order.

//edit:I had never heard of him before. Not sure if he can direct but he sure is interesting to listen to.

Watch Fitzcaraldo (starring Klaus Kinski in a narrative about a man obsessed with trying to pull a steamboat over a mountain to bring opera to the Amazon jungle in the 19th century).
In German with English subtitles.
Then watch the doc Burden of Dreams (about, not by Herzog), about Herzog's obsession with making Fitzcaraldo, nearly going mad in the process.
In German and English.
...
...
Some feel his docs are an acquired taste- his VO can get very rambling and philosophical...

"Watch Fitzcaraldo (starring Klaus Kinski in a narrative about a man obsessed with trying to pull a steamboat over a mountain to bring opera to the Amazon jungle in the 19th century)."
That's not the reason for the boat. That's silly. It was to transport natural resources up and down a secluded part of the river and make money. The opera wound up being all he ended up with in the end.
Put in my vote for Woody Allen's Batman. A very talkative sexually-repressed Batman full of nostalgia ...
Riddler: Riddle me this, caped crusader. Is your life fulfilled?
Batman: Well jeez, uhm. You had to go there? I was all prepared for some elaborate doomsday scenario fraught with immense danger. Immense. Which I would dive into with little care for my personal safety and wellbeing--
Riddler: You know there is a bomb ticking.
Batman: Of course there would be, because you're well known for your sadistic time sensitive trials, but uhm. I'm still contemplating on your initial inquiry. I, I used to be quite certain that being a billionaire playboy had sufficient perks to at least keep me distracted during existential crises--
Riddler: All right skip the question!
Batman: Gladly, I will. Did I ever tell you about my mother? It's a funny story really.
BOOM.
Very interesting. He's seems like an amazing man.
I love his honesty and his opinion. He seems like a very grounded person. Very open. Very honest.
...Oh, Adam Sandler would be my first choice, especially if he also starred as Batman too!
Or maybe a Nicolas Winding-Refn version.
Go awesom o!
Origins, sequels, prequels - the only place left to take it is merge it with Bubba Ho-Tep and have Batman and the supervillians battling it out for control of the TV remote in a nursing home.

A wealthy philanthropist, Thomas Wayne, his wife Martha and their 8 year-old son, Bruce Wayne, were coming out of a movie theater. The time was 10:47 p.m. As they stepped onto Park Row (now called Crime Alley), a masked gunman named Joe Chill came out of the shadows wanting Martha's pearl necklace she was wearing. Before young Bruce's eyes, Chill shot and killed Thomas Wayne in cold blood and then Martha as she was screaming for help. Bruce, traumatized at the sight of his parents' death, would never be the same. After his parents' death, Bruce was raised by his the wise and loyal butler Alfred Pennyworth, and inherited his family's vast fortune as well as his father's company Wayne Enterprises.
Facing his parents' gravestones, Bruce made a solemn oath to avenge his parents' deaths. He toured the world looking for experts on various fields, training himself mentally and physically. Despite fiscal security, happiness eluded Bruce. Young Bruce was comforted by Dr. Leslie Thompkins, who helped him to mourn his parents and find a purpose in life. At age fourteen, Bruce started a twelve year walkabout around the world to study and learn various subjects. For academics, he studied at Cambridge in England, the Sorbonne in France, as well as other famous European universities. A Frenchman named Henri Ducard taught him man-hunting, a ninja named Kirigi taught him stealth, an African bushmen trained him in the art of the hunt, and Nepalese monks taught him healing.
He would return to Gotham City, where he decided to become a vigilante. But despite all his honed skills, he knew something was missing. Bruce believed criminals to be a "superstitious and cowardly lot", and in order to rid Gotham of evil, he needed to reinvent himself into a terrifying symbol that would strike fear in the hearts of criminals. While in his father's study, a large bat came crashing in. Bruce saw this as an omen, and recalled his fear of bats as a child and decided to use the bat as his symbol. Using his vast wealth, Bruce designs a costume and state of the art equipment based on bats. From this point on he lead a double life. By day, the playboy billionaire Bruce Wayne, and by night, vigilante crime-fighter Batman.
