Making a small diy lighting-kit with some old flo "tubeholders".
Each item fits 4 tubes, I got 3 of them.
Question: Which colortemp is the one best used indoors?
Selection is 4200K and 5000-6000K tubes. Or shall I go the easy way?
Fit 2 of each on my items and use as needed?
I'd stick with the 5000K to 6000K ones. 4200K isn't the best and is rarely a high CRI either. At least in the daylight tubes they usually do a higher CRI version that can be found.
Cool, thanks. But lets say I want to light a nightimescene indoors, still the 5-6k ones then? A scene, some regular lighting and then some flos to make it all a bit brighter and nicer.
These will have to do until I can get some proper flo-lights.
Got my eyes on your 2x55Ws =)
When you mix, it does need to be intentional and white balance needs to be handled in isolation of one or the other color temperatures. What you'd do is white balance to the lower color temperature with all other lighting off. Then turn on the daylight fluorescents and what you'll have is a bluish looking background lit by flos and the other lighting will appear more white. Do it the opposite way and the flos will appear to be white and the practical fixtures with lower color temperatures will be exaggerated yellow/amber. Want both? White balance to 3200K and add a bit of amber gel to the lower color temperature fixtures then you'll have the bluish lights from the flos but also exaggerated yellow from the practicals.
