Which ccd would work best with a 35mm lens adapter? A 4x3 ccd, or a 16x9 ccd? Does either of them have a higher quality image than the other, or are they both the same?
The shape of the CCD has no bearing on how the adapter works. If you have a 4x3 CCD, you get a sharper 4x3 image but inferior 16x9 image and vice versa. The actual resolution of the camera and the sharpness of the adapter/lens combo is what's going to determine image quality.
