I like it, only thing I would recommend is to possibly get some extra foam or something to provide that extra amount of protection and safety. Otherwise, the whole backpack thing is great, since it allows me to carry my camera, equipment, and tripod all at once without too much difficulty (other option would be to have to make multiple trips, which means my equipment might have to be left alone occasionally, and that makes me saaad ).
I'd also recommend getting the strap (I think it's called the HP-40 or something). Good luck with your decision!
I really like the 1600. It is a little big for some people. But I can fit my HVX, 3 Batts, AC Adapter, Shotgun Mic, P2 cards, P2 Store, Zoom Controler, and Wide angle. And I sill have a little room left.
I have the 1600 as well. No wheels, but it isnt THAT heavy. Be a man, like your sister and have some muscle. (and no im not saying YOUR sister is a man, but that would be funny.)
ha ha.. just so you know my cinebags case can carry 4 1600's in it.. they actually stopped making them that big cause people loaded them up so much they couldnt lift them off the ground.
I have a few vanguard hard cases. Might not be top of the line, but I have never had a problem with them. My DVX with rod support and 35mm adapter fit into this guy:
Seems to fit fine in my Pelican 1550. This is the case I had for the DVX, and all I had to do was core out some more pluck and tuck foam to the HVX outline. Still room for the batteries, charger, my USB-to-Go backup, a mic and various other odd items. I can even put it in with the mic holder installed and have room to close without stressing it.
The gist is to have the bottom of the camera facing the spine so as the camera is upright for storage. I ordered the im2500 storm case, which is the 1510 equivalent, which I wish had come bc it is raining in boston and I have to go out with the camera.
I printed Brian's picture for the plucking process and it worked great. The only change I made was I placed the battery charger against the case for a little extra space. The case is hard enough to protect it and space is limited.
My goal with the 1510 was to have a nice little case for just the camera, P2 cards, charger, cables and a couple emergency DV tapes. It works great for that.
I'm using a Petrol, exellent for traveling and the case fits the basic accessories. Bought mine on B&H, fairly priced and the package also included a raincover. Recomended.
