Which Camera on my budget?

Hey, so basically im looking into buying a new video camera to make a feature on, but i want the highest quality possible so it has potential for a dvd / theatre release, so HD prefered, maybe 24p progressive as well? Not sure on that one. I currently have £600 / $1200 saved. What cameras would you suggest? Or do you think I should keep saving.

Thanks. DG.

Keep saving. Many people have done theatre release with a standard DVX100, but even a used one with 500ish hours will cost you about $1500US.

Checkout the stuff that jshooter did with using 2 DVX's rigged together. Dunno if it would work for what your are doing, but it is really cool.

I've seen plenty of used DVX's go in the $1200 range, and many with less than 500 hours.

Maybe look into the canon HV20 for HD.

Ryan, I want to shop where you shop. I'd buy 3 at that price!

You see any at that price any time soon, shoot me a PM. ;) I'll be first in line.

Definitely buy a camera with 24p, it makes a huge difference.

Make sure to save money for decent microphones too, sound quality is more important than image quality.

brilliant, thanks for the response, yeah i looked into the HV20. Is it progressive though? I heard after the pulldown to make it true 24p its interlaced?

ki-ki - I may look into funding, but I dont know who to approach...

thanks again.
