I need a cam to capture my DVX footage. I have bought so much lately i cannot afford a $1200-2000 deck and am in need of a cheap cam to capture my DVX's footage. What would be economical and work well ? I use FCP Studio ?

I would say any camera that takes 60i (NTSC). I am still using my DVX70 of 7years to do the capturing. No problems with drop out for me.

Before I would havd said ANY, but with the Canon HV20 shooting in 24p it can be much more than a deck. But, about $900.

I've had a ton of luck with a CHEAP used Sony HandyCam (DCR-PC5).

It was $100 and I added a new power supply so I wouldn't need to swap out batteries when capturing / digitizing to Final Cut. It actually works great.

When it dies, I will either run over it with my truck or throw it off something very tall.

Im also using a sony handy cam. it even has a docking station that stays connected to the computer and wall outlet and all i do is put the handy cam on there and viola. plus its got sonys super night shot which is fun to have and the girlfriend can use it if she needs a video camera for something.

Nice. At 1st, I wasn't quite sure where you were headed with that 'super nightshot' bit. Whenever I mention that, my g'friend always jokes about Paris Hilton's now-infamous video.

I bought a Pani GS39 MiniDV camcorder. Paid 280 at target, captures 24p and 24PA footage in 16:9 and 4:3....cheap at works great.
