Which Boom?

Hi,

I have been reading archived threads all day. You always give great advice, so I need to ask which boom to get.

KE110CC - Aluminum Boompole with Coiled Cable - 2.5 - 9.2' $230

or

G-7680C Studex 6-Section Carbon Boompole -Measuring 2.7 to 12.5' $250

I plan to use it with the kssm shockmount and the oktava (as well as my ME66 outside)

Thanks!!

If internal cable is what's most important, get the KTek, but if greatest reach is most important, get the gitzo. It's that simple. I've never used the KTek but I used the Gitzo this last weekend and loved it.

my money is ALWAYS with k-tek. killer company, killer products, great service, no regrets.

plus - internal cable is amazing.

shawneous is right about reach, but if the k-tek wont be long enough - get a longer k-tek! :)

The k-tek would be my choice. Well thats what I have and love. I previously did the external cable gig and boy what a time saver it is to have the internal cable. For quick setup changes it's great. If you have ample time to change setups either will do.

To wrap up this thread (I ordered the gitzo) I go these other nice responses.

From MattinSTL

Go with the Gitzo.

I have the graphite version of the K-Tek you mentioned... it was $400... I STILL use the Gitzo more. The gitzo is NOT cabled, but it doesn't matter... I'll never buy another pole that's less then 12'... the Gitzo is a great pole for the money.

Thanks for the compliment...I try to give back (other's have helped me a lot over the years)

This might be a better question to post publically. I would recommend the Ktek BUT that is because the Gitzo poles I have used were all crap. Now the last Gitzo pole I touched was over 5 years ago and they were notorious for making crappy cheap poles at that time and from feedback I have heard more recently from people like MattinSTL Gitzo is making much better poles now.

If those people are right then the Gitzo would be the better deal (and those 3 feet will make a world of difference more times then you can imagine).

So, try posting a public thread or maybe PM Matt since he has more recent experience with Gitzo then myself.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help __________________

THank you everyone for the help. I may have gone with the 12' graphitek-tek if I could drop $5-600. I think I will be happy

I went with the BBG and the Oktava too!
