Which audio codec to use when compressing with Sorenson 3?

Having a hard time getting decent audio when compressing the movies, Qdesign has a maximum of 48 kbits/s. Are there any other audio codecs I can use? What settin does everyone here use?

I just asked the same Q in another thread ... I'd figure that it would default you to the best audio, just like it does with the video codec (Sorenson3).

Mpeg4 isn't in the list of available options in the drop down box. I just tried it with IMA 4:1, and yeah it sure sounds a LOT better, but my file size is also a lot bigger.

Yeah. I've done a lot of experimenting w/ QT audio/video and IMA is the best choice IMO. It's a good tradeoff of quality, compatibility across versions/platforms, etc.

I just found that exporting an uncompressed avi from Premiere with audio set to "mono" results in better audio compression in Sorenson (in which mono is the default audio setting). I'm not sure if this actually makes a difference, but it does IMO.

Also, I noticed that the IMA codec tends to amplify the audio from the original file, resulting clipping on the louder sections of the audio track. To solve this problem I turned down the master volume in Premiere and exported the uncompressed avi again.
