I forget dude's name, but if anyone remembers the shorty from the Northeast I believe, who had all the old timers crying in their beer over his framing and comping skills, let alone editing, please post his name or url. I remember he remade a few of those Rock Opera vids from this band in the Linkin Park genre (but not them) with that female guest singer who's real pale with the real pretty sad voice. He was like 17 and had been winning awards since like 10. The post was about 8 months ago titled something like "You've gotta see this kid's work!" I'm curious what he's up to since everyone was saying he was gonna be another Spielberg. Kid was dope.

I was watching MTV the other day and saw the new Music Video for Lindsay Lohan "Rumors". I thought for sure that this kid was the one that Directed it because it looked like his style. However I noticed that Jake Nava directed it.

I think although Matt is real good, he's just done a good job in imitating the polished, industrial look. but the fact that he's got the talent and the eye for it gives him much credit where it's due.

DVX100Shooter, I take it you're not a college kid wasting his life away watching music videos. B/C if you were you'd know that Jake is currently the man (see Beyonce's first two videos from Crazy In Love), even though it feels REALLY contrived to have Lindsay all of a sudden doing Beyonce/Brittany type sexy videos. But she does look hella good. Anyway, the "look" that Matt has mastered can be traced back to HYPE Williams and Classic Concepts You probably know who Hype is but CC was the first big R&B/HipHop video production company in the late 80s early 90s. Hype got his start with them as an intern dropping off film (according to my friend who was there too) when they were doing just about everyone who was someone's videos back then. New Edition, Bobby Brown, Bell Biv Devoe, ABC, Boyz II Men, Jodeci, Heavy D, GUY, etc. Pretty much whatever was on BET from a major. Then Hype started his own company, think it was called Big Dawg Films or something, and 400 videos later the rest was history. He was criticized left and right when he did BELLY (the movie) for the highly stylized "video" look, then a bunch of "Hollywood" types went and copied it. Anyway, Hype has influenced a hella lotta people from Brett
Ratener, Dave Meyers, Joe Kahn, and Marc Klasfeld to current studs Little X, Benny Boom, Paul Hunter and Jake Nava. These guys are all great but "the look" started with Hype. Young Matt is probably unaware (like a cat shooting digital would be about say consumer betamax from the early to mid 80s) of the fact that he's damn good at perfecting the Hypeness as Hype sometimes calls it.
