Where's Matt_in_STL? I miss his clips and everything else. Won the lottery? Oscar? Lurking? His input to this board was under-appreciated. I bet he's still got that closet full of mics.

Okay seriously thanks for the support! Audio for video is one of the very, very few things in life that I really love. Just take a look at all my posts on dvxuser or any other video site that I frequent... almost all my posts are in the audio sections!
I used to build speakers and go to CES every year... Originally I intended to build speakers for a living. I hooked up with the guys from N.E.A.R. and some other smaller speaker producers to see how they grew their "mom and pop" shops... Locally I know a guy who builds amps called Sans Pariel (Fourier Components) and his custom amps made the Absolute Sound recommended components list. I've built a lot of speakers that sell in the range of $4K and up... My point? I REALLY love sound! So what would you expect me to be doing with my life?
Opening a "fast-casual" fish restaurant? God help me... It's been a busy fall/winter season 'cause my brother has always wanted to try this business venture and I finally broke down and put every dime I have into this project. Our place is called "Off the Hook" and I'll post some video later so you can see some snippets of my current life right now. Sound on those clips is going to suck, but the gist is that we're trying to open our own place and we're doing all the contruction and a lot of the other work. My daily life right now consists of getting up at 6am and working until 5pm for NO money! I'm feeling so burned out right now I'm developing a bad attitude... but the hope is that we'll make some cash at this eventually.
Video in St. Louis isn't exactly a way to get rich... or even barely pay the bills for that matter! So I had to take a chance on SOMETHING... and I finally figured why not this?
I'll still always be around 'cause I actually LOVE video (and trying to get perfect audio for it)... I'm really hoping to put up some projects and plans for some of you guys to try... I was right in the middle of a jib-arm and dolly project when this other idea got pushed to the front of the line by my brother...
There's nothing to see there right now, but eventually you can see a lot about the restaurant concept by going to www.offthehookfish.net
Hey thanks again for mentioning me! Like everybody I have days that it really feels good to think that I've made some kind of difference for somebody! ('cause on a lot of days I feel like a robot stuck on the assembly line... just going through the motions and hoping that some of it "matters".)

i already opened one - since my wife is in NY for vacation i cook for thr kids and you know what the y eat it ( after i take the tv remote from their hand )

Hey if anybody from DVXuser ever comes in when I'm there... then just say so and introduce yourself... (like you WOULDN'T do that!)... and you're money's no good!
Seriously, this venture is nuts... but then again it's no big deal... trust me, it's a tiny spot and we're banking on this little risk (that's big for us!)... and yes, the good news is that I can now write off ALL video/audio equipment purchases! Training videos anyone? Okay I could already write off a lot of stuff 'cause of my meager video "business"... but now I should be able to write of every mic, camera, and accessory!
