Buckaroo Banzai?[/quote]

Quite astute, Stas! Buckaroo Bonzai indeed, the scene where he's playing piano at the club and talking to Pennie Pretty.

Re: Where'd this line come from?

Okay, guys and gals, try this one:

"We're here to preserve democracy, not practice it."

Re: Where'd this line come from?

It's not really an obscure movie, though.

Chevy Chase. Dan Akroyd. John Candy. Demi Moore. Digital Underground.

_Not_ and obscure movie. It's just that no one but me seems to have seen it.

I didn't mean to stop progress cold, I just forgot to check on the thread. I was gonna give one more line, and then change films. I'll cede to the next submitter, though. :)

For the curious, it was "Nothing But Trouble." Great film. Largely overlooked. Full of wonderful quotes, because it's just so out there.

Re: Where'd this line come from?

Me? No. Someone else posted a quote, after people couldn't get mine. I've got no problem passing on the torch.

Re: Where'd this line come from?

"Tonight there were two people in here killing each other, but that's a whole lot better than millions killing each other out there"

and from the same movie...

"If I can change and you can change, then everybody can change"

Not sure if they're exact, but pretty damn close...

Re: Where'd this line come from?

Rocky IV. If you ever lose faith in America, just watch Rocky IV. :)

"There is no phone ringing damn it!"

Or if you ever notice your abs are getting flabby and you need to start working out again. It gets me every time - that training sequence is WICKED ;D

Re: Where'd this line come from?

Posted a quote on the previous page yesterday that hasn't yet been answered. (I'll check back later and give the answer if no one's gotten it).

Here it is again:

"We're here to preserve democracy, not practice it."

Re: Where'd this line come from?

Crimson Tide

"I believe there's a hero in all of us, one that makes us noble, keeps us honest, gives us strength"

not sure how exact it is... but close enough...

Re: Where'd this line come from?

Fight Club.

"They were getting ready to perform a little of the old in-out, in-out on a weepy young devotchka they had there."

Re: Where'd this line come from?

The hudsuker proxy

"Gravity, its a killer"

Said to the same actor lying flat on his back

Re: Where'd this line come from?

IQ -- wow, I knew one. Though I'm kind of ashamed that it was this one.

So in the same vein:

"Nobody hurts my horse."

Re: Where'd this line come from?

Hidalgo indeed. Very dissapointing acting... except from Omar.

You got it, loser... your turn.
