Where'd My Audio Go? :-)

I filmed my movie in 24P (DVX100B) and everybody tells me that rendering looks best in Main Concept MPEG-2, so I rendered using MPEG-2 with the DVD architect 24P NTSC video stream template. This was all done using Vegas 6.0

After rendering, I realized that there was no sound (yet the video looked sweet). I have this hunch that the template I chose only supports video stream and not audio.

What should I do differently so my audio shows up, as well? As mentioned, I'm happy with the video quality of MPEG-2, but wonder how I can maintain sound so that I can perform the next step: burn using DVD architect.

I originally burned each individual scene (on a separate timeline) in this format, and when the audio disappeared, I rendered the audio (using Windows Media Audio Version 9) and rendered the scenes together into one large file (only to lose the audio again). How do I get them together? :-(

Much thanks!

KarlB,

I'm not positive, but I think there is a "Include Audio" checkbox or something in the custom or options dialog for MainConcept MPEG-2.

Specifically, go to the custom dialog, on the Audio tab, and select the checkbox that says "Include audio stream".

I'm not 100% about that, but it could be the issue.

Hi, thanks for the response.

I researched other posts and that was mentioned (so I made another post asking where the check box was). I couldn't locate the audio check box (I looked on the pop-up that appears after one clicks the 'Render As...' tab).

I'm hoping somebody will tell me where this box is :-)

File - Render As, pick that preset, click on "Custom", go to the Audio tab, and click on the "Include Audio" checkbox.

Just be forwarned that if you're going to be putting this on DVD, you should render the audio separately as AC3 instead.

Jedi - Much thanks! I'll definitely render the audio as AC3. But how do I get the rendered video and audio together? I assume this is done in DVD architect, but I'm not sure how it's done.

Much thanks! I appreciate the help :-)

If both files (AC3 and MPEG-2) have the EXACT same name, DVD Architect will link them together automatically when you bring them both into a project.

Totally awesome! Much thanks, PTO. I'm watching the film now and am making notes. After that, I'll make the changes, add the music, and will burn the final product. Much, mcuh thanks! :)
