Where to start with FLASH?

I just picked up a copy of Macromedia Flash because I thought it could prove valuable both for web display of my film and for doing animations in the films themselves...

...So where do I start? I used to do a little C++ and can use XML and HTML well enough...but this is a new format for me entirely. Almost seems too intuitive in comparison to those others!

What would those of you who are experienced with Flash recommend as a good starting point? (And how soon do I get into Actionscript?)

well, first of all, try some animation to understand the timeline, the effects, motions, use some very little script: play() stop() gotoAndPlay()..., then try to understand the objects, object orientated scripting... car.gotoAndStop(); and then more and more script. try to do buttons too. I recommend you to buy some books. friend of ED has good books...
