Where to get Film outs?

I know you're going to think I'm crazy...

But I'm looking to transfer Canon 5D shot digital photos to negative 35mm film. You see my Dad is a photographer who loves the process of making black and white prints from film, and he mentioned how a lot of the photos he shot on his 5D, he wished were on black and white film, so he could have his darkroom fun rather than getting digital prints.

I figured this must be a possibility, since tons of movies are shot digital, and transfered to film for projection. Where do I go/call? How much will it cost me? This would be the ideal christmas present.

You might ask these people...

http://www.dvfilm.com/services.htm

They primarily deal with transfering digital video to 35mm film, but on their site it does say this: "File formats can be Quicktime 5(any codec) or nearly any image-file format such as JPEG, PICT, BMP, TGA, SGI or TIFF, and AIFF or WAV files for audio."

Worth a try. Good luck!

Any place that does CRT or arrilaser could do a transfer, but the film will be printed vertically, so the image area would be half as big. They will also charge you more than you probably want to pay, and might look at you funny. If you had thousands of shots, it might be fun. For only a few hundred there's no way they would be less than $1 each.
