Where to find agents?

I'm wondering where the best place is to find agents for short films etc...

Someone who can discover my talent and then help me get my films out there?

Is there some lists online or open phone numbers?

I heard a story on here of somebody who's film was discovered on Vimeo, and was flown out to Hollywood and that's him.

I've tried searching everywhere but can't find any.

I doubt that there are any. And why would there be? Agents work on commission, and short films are pretty much unmarketable.

Online successes are few and far between generally due to the sheer volume of submissions vying for a user's attention at any one time.
You might be lucky and come up with something unique like freddiew and have a huge userbase.

That's really the only way that an online launch is going to get picked up - if it's viral or you have a huge userbase...
Either that, or you host it on iTunes etc. and get into the high ratings there.

It's all basically a numbers game.. one which is, unfortunately, stacked against the content producer.
 
by getting them, if they qualify, into festivals. You can't sit back and hope someone is going to shlep (and I'm Irish) all over creation touting your, skills, for free, do you? Like every professional on this site, you have to pound the pavement. Best thing at his juncture, go for the manager. Find a manager that will take you on....Agents are for "instant business," managers, "Develop" talent. When you have developed something to sell, then an agent will be the next step.
 
If you want an agent, the agent needs to be able to monetize your work. Think music videos or commercials instead of short films.
 
If a ten-year-old has skills and is able to communicate them, they'll get hired. Attitude has a lot to do with it. If you have skills, start doing whatever it takes to get them into people that can do something. Don't be in a hurry, that hurts you more than helps. Just work at it daily...Be persistent.

I've worked on some really small short films for people, not shooting it but doing the editing and visual effects for it.
