DVX 100a Prices gathered from the internet

After 2 weeks of research, lots of hours, coffe and tabaco I reach the conclusion that I don't know where to buy from.
I think that every one of us has been there, done that.
Would be nice if based on first hand experiences, you would be willing to share with everyone good or bad poignant stories.

Regards,

Does anyone have any pertinent information in regards to those guys?
Are they for real or they are rip-offs. I've read some bad things about them and very few nice comments. Any personal experiences with any of those guys?

Re: Where to by from, Whom to avoid

Got mine about a month ago and was having the same choices. Ended up going to B&H. After doing research and checking here I learned that these insanely low price sites deal in "grey market" items. The cams they offer were not meant to be sold in this country. Warranties are not supported and I read serial # are removed. If it's too good to be true, it usually is. I sleep a lot better knowing I got mine from a trusted place. Be forwarned.

Re: Where to by from, Whom to avoid

Please do a search on this forum. It has been the subject of much discussion and even a user poll. I personally highly recommend EVS. Rush is a very valuable resource to this forum and their prices are very competitive (being an authorized Panasonic dealer).

None of the ones you listed above are authorized, most are grey market only.

Re: Where to by from, Whom to avoid

i bought my DVX100 through www.buydig.com. At the time they had it for $3,014 which at the time was the cheapest around. Not sure what they are selling it as right now. I looked that business up with the Better Business Bureau and everything checked out to be A-OK so I went ahead and did business with them. Before my purchase, I was like you, I didnt know who to trust. Most stores in NYC EXCLUDIING B&H are shady. I'm talking about the ones that advertise the DVX100 for like $2,500! I called one store and they had the nerve to tell me that its that cheap because all you get is the camera! Apparently they will open the box and take everything out except the camera then reseal the box back up and sell you JUST the camera! I have heard of several stores in the NYC area that does that so beware. When in doubt go with stores like B&H, EVS, and other well known stores.

B&H is truly reputable. In fact, I used to buy all my video and photo gear from them before I started selling it myself ;D

Re: Where to by from, Whom to avoid

Yea in most cases you will pay a little more at B&H depending on what it is BUT the flipside is like Rush stated they are truly reputable.

Re: Where to by from, Whom to avoid

I probably shouldnt write this, but I did no research and ended up buyng my DVX100E (pal) from Broadway. Got everyting, including all the accesories and manual. There was nothing that indicated grey market. AFTER i placed my order, I checked out resellerratings, and found that Broadway has a very shady reputation. I had a very good experience, although they tried to push overpriced accessories after the fact. I ended up buying a VU filter + extra battery from B&H. Maybe I was lucky..The price was certainly right..
