Anyone know of a place where I can buy lens donuts (foam rings) to go around lenses of different diameters? This is to block light that may enter a mattebox from behind. Thanks!
I had a great system with my old Petroff matte box - until the entire unit was stolen, another story. I used a velvet hair band for girls/women. I put this elastic hair band on the lens barrel and mounted the matte box. Then I simply pushed the hair band up against the matte box. As the band was black velvet, it stopped all reflections and light leaks around the matte box. And being elastic, it can stretch to different diameters of lenses.
It cost about a buck at a "dollar store" - far cheaper than the neoprene rings sold for the same purpose. And it looked like a "factory fit" - it didn't look cheap. It's a very good fix for a common problem.
