Best prices online for the 4 4 kino ve select bank? B&H doesn't carry them. KayeLights does...looking to buy soon (happy to get them used if possible) Any suggestions?
B&H Does carry the gaffers kits for just over 2000, which is a bargain, several hundred under all the other places I checked.
true, you can get the individual unit without the nice case for less, few hundred less from places like Wooden Nickel in North Hollywood
Bear in mind that I'm talking about a pair of them. you can buy a single unit if you want but you always get better deal as a pair.
by the way, Wooden Nickel is the only place I know that sells used kinos. I feel saying a couple a couple hundred bucks isn't worth it though. their phone number is 818-761-9662
kinos are great, one of the best investments you'll ever make.
the reson I like the gaffers kit with the anvil case is that that it has foam protection for the bulbs. Bear in mind where ever you buy, you'll need to buy bulbs seperate, and most likely you'll want daylight and tungsten sets. they're not cheap.
The Gaffer kit is something different than the 4ft banks right? It's labeled on b& h as foto flo's. I'm not sure what the difference is, but I rented the 4bank the other week, and I'm dead set on getting a couple of them, they were soooo good.
Secondly, have you ever taken out a single bulb from the fixture and ran it independantly (taped to a wall etc?) is that possible?
Re: expense...Like 30$ a bulb or something for the 4ft ones right? (i guess it'd add up in a hury though with daylight and tungs for 2 4ft banks)
It appears B&H doesn't carry the 4 banks. The difference is the foto flo only allows you to swith on 2 or 4 bulb, but it has a ballast that is lighter and attaches to the back or the light. Their patest catalog doesn't even have the 4 banks, so I'm not clear if it's been discontinued or not.
the diva lites are dimmable. Like you, I prefer the 4 bank. Just call around and see what type of prices you can get. Any company can order them, but most tend to quote list prices for some reason, thinking we're all rich movie producers I guess.
Some places like Studio Depot offer 20% student discounts, which is why I buy some of my stuff there. You can check at studiodepot.com
Wooden Nickel sells some used one as well as new. their number is 818-761-9662
