Where to Buy FCP system?

Any recommendations where to buy a FCP system? I thought there would be a ton of tips in the forum, but I'm not finding any.

Thanks!

i built mine. purchased software, Xraid and Mac Pros from Apple. Kona cards from B&H Photo, 24" monitors from Dell, 32" plasma from somewhere else, speakers and mixer from Zzounds.com. cables from monoprice.com

Really depends on what type of editing you are going to be doing... You need HD? HDV?????? Just DV? Will you be distributing content for the web? Broadcast TV? Film???

One common thread thru all of those:

1) Biggest baddest Intel machine you can afford with a loan
2) X1900 video card
3) A monitor you like

The rest is dependent on format.

The good thing about FCP itself is that aside from a MAC and a good (quality) video card the software is software dependent... no extra hardware doodads needed ala Avid.

So - buying a turnkey system for someone will only cost you more than you really need to spend.

as far as i kow, FCP performance is not based on the Graphics card at all, its all based on harddrive Bandwidth. That said there are a lot of POst-production packages that do rely on the graphics card, and most of them want an nvidia card, so you might be better off getting one of those rather than the ATI X1900. the performance between them is probably much of a muchness, but the ability to use it for compositing and 3D work is important.
