Where is the toggle switch/mode button?

It used to be at the bottom of the program window, but it's since disappeared and now I can't do the parenting operations. Anyone know what might of happened? Version CS4 if that helps.
 
You're looking for the columns menu. Ctrl-click (Mac) or Right click (PC) any column header (source, mode, trkmt, etc.) and this will bring up a menu that will allow you to select which columns you want to display or hide. You can also access this menu by brining up the timeline menu, located at the top right hand corner of the timeline window.
 
Thanks for the tip milksac. This actually works better as I don't have to go select a button anymore to switch modes! Thanks!
