Where Is The Iso Disk Image?

re: exporting to DVD with PP1.5

I have PP 1.5 and can export without any problem. I assume PP1.5 makes a "disk image" before burning the DVD.....because you can preselect to make additional copies which burn real fast.

Does anyone know "where" this disk image (iso file) is saved by PP?
Id like to archive this disk image iso file on a data disk so that I can burn additional copies in the future.

Sometime I use ULEAD to process an AVI file, and Ulead allows one to burn and save the diskimage file. But I dont see that option with PP1.5. Does PP2.0 or CS3 have this option?

Thanks,
Jeff

there is no ISO file, it just has the files compressed to the final format and that is why it doesn't have to render the same project again and can go straight to writing it.

oh...then that takes care of finding the ISO file. PP "should" make a way to output an ISO file from the timeline. Would allow archiving of the ISO file for future copies.

My only alternative is to output to .avi, import to Ulead, and make ISO file disk image, then save to DVD data disk for archiving.

That "final file" you mention, is that the Mpeg2 file?...what is the difference between an ISO file, and the Mpeg2 file......is any. Do most of you archive the MP2 file for later duplications?

Thanks for the input

An ISO file is just a disc image. It can contain anything from documents to movie files.
Mpeg2 is a specific form of compression of media

Another way to do it is to use Adobe Media Encoder and the MPEG2-DVD preset (with multiplexer) turned on. This way it will give you an MPEG files that a DVD authoring program can just burn right away and not have to rerender. It's a bit of experimentation for getting the best quality though because the Premiere's encoder doesn't seem to be as good as a dedicated DVD program like Encore.

Thanks Jade...

Not, having Encore, Ive been using ULEAD authoring program. I export a uncompressed AVI file from the PP timeline, and then use Ulead to make a disk image. (maximixe bitrate) Rendering the AVI file, of course, takes a while, but it's a breeze to make copies using the created disk image. The quality is good, and I can archive the DI for later use. I will have to get a copy of Encore soon and try it.

I just heard that PP2 "allows" you to export a ISO file from the timeline. Will check it out when I update to PP2.
