Where I have been - Matt Sconce

Hey Dvxusers!
I wanted to drop in and say hi! I got my start on this forum and participated in many dvxfests which helped me learn how to be a better filmmaker. I have now gone on to produce 5 feature films, direct and film 2, and have founded a startup company that is saving struggling movie theaters with a subscription model. I now own a 5 screen theater in the Sierra Nevadas. DVXuser is amazing and I am so glad to be a part of it. For your info, I am currently shooting on a hacked Panasonic GH2 with the flowmotion v2 hack, but shot my most recent film "Firefall" with an unhacked GH2. See my demo reel here which includes footage from some DVXuser fests and my Feature Films.

Take care and happy filmmaking!

The idea of a subscription model for movie theaters is pretty cool. Is this something you have for just one theater, or is it something you are trying to get put into other theaters in the country?

Either way, a good idea and congrats on success with your films and business venture.

We are about to franchise and buy across thee country and around the world. This model save theaters that are struggling to make it and is pretty fun. Thanks!

Aren't you the guy who invented that 360-degree snorricam prototype? There was a demo video of a parking lot chase, IIRC. Whatever happened with that?

We are still in prototype mode but it has been used for an animal planet special in India and may be used for a television special soon.

Anymore videos? Any site where one could be updated on its progress? Ever thought about kickstarting it?
Here is a trailer of the Animal Planet premiered special. You see it used briefly in the trailer:

We are adding something to the prototype and will definitely be moving forward with it. Distribution for Firefall and owning the theater has taken up a lot of our time.

Dude, that was some awesome footie.
Thanks! I am excited for my movie Firefall to come out on Bluray and DVD on June 18th. It has run for 8 weeks in a super limited theatrical release and wraps that up this Friday. Here is its trailer (make sure to choose 1080p.
The Spin Rig is also used in the movie.

Awesome. It's great to see DVXUSERS attaining success with their ventures, whether business or filmmaking.

I wish this model could have been around to help out the cool old school independent movie theater the next town over from me. It closed down approx. 8-10 years ago, but reopened as a venue for live events, so I doubt they'd throw that aside to go back into showing films (they were a single screen theater that showed new movies right after they got out of the big multiplexes). It was a cool little theater, unique compared to the big corp. multiplex venues which are now the only theaters I have near my area.

More snakes!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very partial to that type of Discovery Channel format. LOL, what I saw there was amazing, and would expect to see it on TV during "Snake Week" if there was such a thing. The images were well shot, and lended quite well to the format.

And ashamed to say I knew it was a krait before anyone said so on the vid............ I play with rattlesnakes here in CA. I fancy myself an amateur herpetologist. Sad......I need a life.

My movie "Firefall" lands in Canadian Walmarts! It hits our National stores everywhere June 18th! I am excited! If you like stupid comedy with heart, check it out.

And Doc:
That snake is terrifying! It is a great Animal planet special.

Matt - I am so happy for your success! You found a way to make it happen instead of talking about it which is way cool! By chance, would you mind posting a photo of the covers of the DVDs from the movies you filmed? I'd love to see them all.
