Where do you guys buy?

I use B&H normally but where do you guys usually get all your film related stuff, best prices? As far as cameras and accessories?

Actually, I hate having to go to B&H. They are reputable and will most likely have what you need. But, man. That can be one rude store to deal with.

Personally, I like to roll the dice and buy used if I can. I have gotten most, not all, but most of my stuff via used. If you are lucky, you can really get most bang for your buck.

But, I've purchased from EVS, considered Adorama etc...
 
full compass is great, adorama is great, evs is great but a little pricey, b&h has never failed me despite its recent controversy (I got a dvx and many many accessories from them)

Look at the sticky in the dvx section "where to buy a dvx"

Some people say beach camera or buydig is a good place because its cheaper but still legit. Well they aren't legit. I ordered from them once and they did bait and switch on me. Had to cancel payment through my credit card company. They have angry Soviets running their customer service too.

This has been covered in prior threads. I will state for the record, the last time I bought a camera from B&H it was a fairly pleasant experience. Salesperson was very helpful, even thought it was super-busy he hung in with all my questions & requests.

Normally I just order online, but figured for a major purchase, I'd go there in person.
 
What about Abel Cine Tech? I just priced out some gear with them, but I can't find them mentioned by searching these boards. Anyone recommend them? Or not?
 
YES... Abel is the company that sponsored one of our fests is it not?

I would say that first and foremost, if you can support those that support the site, try to spend your money there!

Same goes for EVS... they've been cool to DVXuser in the past... even if they aren't sponsoring now... are they?

BTW... thanks to Jarred for not loading this site up with ads...
 
Abel has the Oconnor and Arri stuff I'm looking for. Expensive stuff, for my blood. Just want to make sure I buy from someone I can trust.

Thank you. For the record, I know some of our sales people are very "Nu Yawk," but none is ever purposely rude or inconsiderate. That said, we're always interested in improving and I will forward any feedback i receive about any employee to that person's manager or supervisor.
 
I buy the majority of my stuff from B and H. The one time they messed up on a large order and didn't pack a case of tapes, it took one call- no questions asked and the tapes were here the next day.

I've used Amazon in a pinch a couple of times and they seem to have some issues......


Of course now that I've given them the pat-on-the-back my next order will be a nightmare........:huh:
