where do you buy your gels?

Those are some organized gel containers! I would say gels are the most frustrating piece of expendables in existence. They cost a TON, and have a relatively short life. They get lost, cut up, burned. I try to keep the gells about 1-2 feet wide, and twice that length, so if I need to double them up I can. Of course, this is for 1k's and 2k's. There isn't a cure all size for all lights. Just make sure you have enough to cover everything, plus some extra if you need to double up. And label all those gels in 2 opposite corners. Nothing more frustrating than trying to find a gel when the heats on and not being able to get the right color.

Well here in LA there are plenty of places but a lot of people buy from Filmtools.com

There's some place in LA that sells leftover/unused gels from productions. I'm not sure what the name of the place is as I forgot to bookmark the page!

Anyone else know?

The live staging industry uses gels - Apollo available from Springtree.net is gel used by a lot of people in live production. They are usually cheaper than Rosco's or Lees and they have all the common film gels. CTOs CTB DIFF ND etc

Internetapollo.com for list and they can be ordered from Springtree.net

I use them.

Thanks for mentioning Springtree. I have been trying to figure out where to buy gels online, so I checked out their site. Turns out they are located down the road from me in Franklin TN!
