Where do I find writers

What is the best place to find a script writers for infomercials.
I have a production company and I need someone to write for me.

Is this place to find one or is there another forum?

I have received a few PMs asking for more details.

I need a creative writer to write an 30 min. infomercial for a local vocational school.

It would be in spanish but if the writer selected does not write in spanish it would be ok.

Main 3 subjects are:

1. Air Conditioning (there is no heating in Miami)
2. Medical Billing
3. Medical office managing

Financing Available if they qualify
School will help with student visa

Writer will quote a detail price for writing. If the price is write we will show our client the script and if the agree we will send the writer a check for the agreed amount.

I am getting a lot of customers for this kind of work. Usually this kind of work went to advertising agencies and we just had to produce it. Now with the economy the way it is here in Miami people are trying to cut on expenses.

I am meeting with the customer to give him a general idea of what the script would be.

I need something by tomorrow so instead of PMing me just email me ( info@dvtvproductions.com ) Send me a quote and the general idea for the script.

Send me sample of other scripts you have made.

Let me get this straight, you want someone to write a script for you and if the client likes it then and only then you'll pay the writer? If that's what your asking, you've got to be kidding.
This would be a bad deal if you were asking for features, but asking someone to whore for an infomercial? I've written a lot of informercials so I'm a major whore. But like any whore, I don't kiss, I insist on condoms, and you gotta pay me up front. A lot.

Anyone who signs on to this, please pm me, I have a great deal on Uranium futures, just need some investors, it's a sure thing--can't miss opportunity.

Ah Brian, come-on... we will still love you in the morning when the price details are due! Besides, as Douglas mentions, these are tough times so the client (local vocational school) is probably on a tight budget. But with WGAs woes, perhaps it's time to forget the destitute hooker's mantra, "Now I lay me down too cheap..."

Good luck Douglas - you drive a hard bargain.

Times are changing. Those that go with the changes will profit from them.

Voice talent now days will send you a finished VO to bid. If they are chosen they get a check and you get a release.

They only use to get a few jobs in their area. Now their services are world wide. So at the end they are doing better than before. The VO talent that did not conform to the times are complaining about the economy.

If those complaining would understand this principle would get with it, they would have called or email their services to every production company out there.

Are you seating by the phone waiting for a call from your regular clients?
Are you ready for the technology age?
If you answered yes, email me.

I use to be too proud to understand other markets. I thought that as an artist you could never work for less than what I thought my art was worth. I was a proud starving artist. I had won international awards but was broke.

I decided to give that other market a try and discover that that I was actually working less had more time for family and I made more money than ever before.

Man, my pride never paid my bills. I am still proud of my artistic gift. Too much for my own good, but I'm still working on it.

Here is another idea.

My client has been running their infomercials for years so they know what they are doing. They have been bitten by so call writers that could write pretty but can't sell their products.

They now know what works for them. If your script is chosen, you know that you can sell the same script in a different area. We are in South East Florida. You have the rest of the nation to sell the same script. That is what you call efficiency.

You get what you pay for guy. I'm sure there are a lot of high school students that will help you with your script. Inmate writing teams are also popular right now--you might consider contacting your local penitentiary.

Rehi Douglas,

So, how did you do with your urgent deadline requiring a one day turnaround?

Did you receive many responses from folks here who, in your words are "seating by the phone waiting for a call from your regular clients, and are now ready for the technology age"?

What were the price ranges?

Wishing you well, Michael

You guys have it all wrong. I think he is on to something.

I am going to have three guys come shoot and edit my wedding video. I will buy the one I like. Oh, and I need it tomorrow. Welcome to the technology age!

Think about the possibilities.

I will go to a restaurant and order three meals. I will only pay for the one I like. I hope the chef doesn't let his silly 'pride' hold him back.

I will tell him about voice talent and how they send me finished VO. He will say, 'but that takes 10 minutes and is free'. Silly chef. This is the technology age. Everything is free.

After all, writing isn't real work. It is just putting words on paper. Why should I pay for it? Plus didn't you hear? You can take the script you wrote for the Air Conditioning/ Medical Billing school and sell it all over the country to the other Air Conditioning/Medical Billing schools. You know, the ones that are all over the place. That is like free money he is offering you.

I am not going to 'seat' by the phone any longer. I got to start writing!!

This sounds familiar oddly enough...wasn't it only a couple of weeks ago someone had the amazing idea to tell the WGA to shove it? And wanted to break in while the strike was going on?

I for one am not writing. Not for you, not for anyone until WGA gets what they deserve.

In that case, maybe I should jump on the tech train too. After all, I love spending hours, days, weeks, on VFX projects only to get shafted because the client didn't like it that much. Who needs payment by finished second?

I think I like this method, it seems so economical to burn bridges. Who needs em?

Basically you got the idea. Use the idiots and then leave them with nothing. Gotta love taking advantage of people. It's kinda like rape. Just script rape.

Since the deadline is upon us, I'll just put my script here:

FADE IN

V/O
Pick up the phone and call now!!!

A really really really dramatic pause right here to let the tension build...

V/O
But wait, there's more! Call now and we'll include
a free citrus reamer!

FADE OUT

I pm'd you where to send my check.

Did you notice that there are 152 views?

Do you think that they are going to post anything here?

I don't need detail scripts to show the clients. It only takes less than what you are writing here.

Once I get a couple of writer that I can trust I won't need to look around.

I want to thank those that have email me.

I'm ashamed

Hey Douglas,

As writers we get few opportunites, and I want thank you for bringing your project to DVX. I´m guessing from the venomous reception you received you won´t do it again. I wouldn't.

I for one am grateful you offered something, and I hope you found what you needed.

If not, I'll gladly be your whore, as so eloquently put by the forum bully.

Again, thank you for bringing the project to the writers here at dvx.

Alex

Hi Alex,

I'll have you in mind for the next project.

You wouldn't believe with such a short notice how many writers send me a sample of what I needed.

I suggest you put up an ad on Craigslist, I know screenwriting sites get a feed off the ads put up on there. Good luck.

A little sunday morning trolling eh Alex?

Considering your recent comments about the writer's strike, I'm not surprised you'd happily submit to exploitation by this hack.

Snap out of it Alex, it's guys like this that make the WGA necessary. I can't believe you can't see that.

You don't need to impress me. I was already impressed with your 'international awards' and your offer of unpaid infomercial work for a vocational school in Florida.

You had me at hello.

I just find it unfortunate that people skirt around the lines. If the WGA strike wasn't still on, I wouldn't have said anything. If people want to "whore" themselves out, go ahead. But when writers all of over the US are striking, and people all over the industry are out of work, then I am kinda disappointed that one would take this opportunity to skirt around a widely supported strike.

My 2 cents, as I have stated numerous times. But hey, what's the point anymore. Indies don't think they need the WGA. Makes me wonder why we even fight.

Alex Witmer has gone on the record here against the writer's strike. He doesn't support writers--he says they're "Hurting people" by striking. So it's no surprise he'd laud an attempt by some hack to take advantage of writers. And true to form, just as with his opposition to the WGA, he tries to take the moral high ground. I don't think he believes his own rhetoric--it's trolling plain and simple. He's trying to push buttons. Very annoying.
