Where Can I Post a Streaming Movie Trailer?

HI, I need to post a movie trailer, somewhere, anywhere,

BUT, I'd like it so when you click on the link, it opens up and starts to play, without the long download time. Streaming I think it is called.

I'm willing to pay a small monthly service charge for this.

The trailer is 26 MB, .mov format.

Any help or ideas would be great!

Darryl

I'll host you if you want to. I'll give you a 200 megs and an ftp account. What are you wanting to pay 5 bucks?

When encoding your movie, you will have to enable streaming most times.

The trailer is currently posted for free over at stickypod....
But you have to download it.... or, if you click on it... it takes forever to open....

are saying if I encode it to stream, that's all it takes? Or do I need a special host to host streaming...??

I'm up for anything, I just got to get this trailer going....

email me your #... darryl@mogthemovie.com

also, you can see the trailer on the website... it is really retarded though..... you have to download it, then, download the dam QT 7 so you have the right codec to view it...

:(

heeeeelp!!

also, I used Quick Time 7 to encode it.... is there a way to encode it to stream, and then just post it at sticky pod?

The file needs to be set to stream when you compress it into a quicktime. It's in your quicktime settings.

If the trailer you're talking about is the one currently at mogthemovie.com, I need to ask a silly question. Was it shot with an HVX200?

okay, here are the settings you need to have when exporting for streamin (and for anyone that has QTpro7.

VIDEO
Compression: H.264

Frame Rate: 24
Bitrate: 500 kbits/sec
Frame Recorning: Yes
Encoding mode: Mulit-pass

For 16x9

Height: 225

For 4x3

Height: 300

AUDIO

Hi Chris Lyon, I'm doing it right now... with all those settings...
when finished.... can I just post it, and it will stream when clicked on??

I did your new settings, and it cut the size down by over 2/3... which is great... it's now a 9mb trailer, and looks the same, thanks!

BUT, I still can't get the dam thing to stream.... Does it have anything to do with the server??

I uploaded it to stickypod.com It only takes about 45 seconds to download.... but still, you know how people are... no time for nothin....

www.mogthemovie.com

any thoughts on how to get it streaming??

I'm glad the settings worked for you. I love H.264! Also, if you want to take the bitarate down to 400 kbits/sec and make the audio mono (no one can tell unless there are substantial stereo effects and even then only you really know about them if there are...) you can get an even smaller flie size. Most of mine are mono that I upload, just because almost no one can tell.

You need to move away from flash and get over your fear of Mac and QT. I'm a windows user and I love mac and qt. QT is just so much more universal (not to mention it is the industry standard for movie trailers and website content). Flash movie posting is so much less accepted and much less accounted for in the industry. You are (not to sound too harsh) shooting yourslef in the foot encoding in flash because flash kills bandwith much more than streaming WMV and MOV files.

It may be faster, but its just not the industry standard and thats what you want when displaying your stuff. The average internet user undertsands when you say "quicktime movie" but not "flash movie" that is a sign right there. I like your flash video, but i believe in conformity to the industry standard when it comes to showcasing your material. Even if it's more advanced, people dont know that. They just know its not like everyone elses.

At the begining, there were Real Video, then alittle of Windows Media player, but quicktime got more popular, and now it FLASH ;)

Flash 8 use H264 anyway, like quicktime so it the same thing.

Big difference, is CPU usage, flash take more CPU, but for movie preview. So if it not HD, flash can do it.

More and more, you will see Flash take over for video. Btw we are in the internet audio/video streaming industry, and flash is the universal solution people wish to use.

We have so much complain when client want quicktime, we do not offer any support for quicktime, because of the integration into the browsers.

Also flash make it alot harder to make COPY of contents, and buisness like that.

But I ratter .mov h264 file for anything of video quality, It playback in VideoLan perfectly.

NOTE: I hate flash too, except I hate it less than Quicktime ;) Yes I know I hate everything, except VLC.. except sometime !!! hehe

i must say that real video SUCKS BALLS. but thats beside the point. You can enable protection on quicktime so people cant copy your stuff. There really is no advantage with flash. What browsers do you know of that have issues playing standard QT files?

I'm moving this to the cafe. This isn't HVX footage and I didn't see a link for your video. Next time sort out the hosting first, and post in the right subforum.

"Hinted" streaming will get you closer to what you're looking for, as explained above (somewhere).

But for real streaming, you need a server set up for it. Special software.

Expensive. (To the point where I've forgotten where you can get it...did a data dump because it ain't gonna happen for me unless/until I have something that really deserves it.)

he was referring to the movie to start playing before it finnished downloading. not real streaming, per se...
